This is close ups from my november garden. I forgot to plant the crocus and the garlic. I really need to cover the roses but OH how I love watching the garden go to sleep.

Från Malo in the garden

And this is the porch view from earlier this week. I love that maple tree.

I am spending my Saturday evening going through my summer pictures. These are from July first. Rambler rose 'Aksel Olsen' blooming in the apple tree. The Schersmin scent heavy on the porch. On these photos, the backyard porch of our house. It's a rather small space and I am longing to find a swing where I can sit overlooking my garden. On the last pic, the view. Apple trees and a maple. The red shed belongs to our neighbour. Our garden is quite small.

We painted the garden shed in a calcimine light grey color. It looks beautiful in the company of the old and worn hoardings since long living in our garden. The same color as the old apple tree stems, the foundation. I am obsessed with overblown, dead flowers. The clematis almost as beautiful now as in its prime. Quite a few roses still blooming beautifully. On this picture, one of my favourites (and also the first rose I ever bought) Winchester Cathedral, an Austin rose. Smells like almond.

coming home

The best thing about coming home after a two weeks vacation is to find out what has happened in the garden. When we came home last night, I stumbled around in the dark, trying to see what had grown and what was dead. Later, in the morning light I found out that we had a lot of over grown squash to take care of and enough ripe tomatoes for three meals and sweet peas growing like mad. Now we have a bouqet of sweet peas in every room and I feel so grateful to have a garden.

Next to roses, maybe Hydrangeas (Hortensia) is the most beautiful flower in the world. (As if it would be possible to choose)

A lot of pink going on in the garden right now. I ask myself how this could have happened since I don't consider pink one of my favourite colors. But actually, in the whole, it looks quite good.

Från garden

Från garden

I bought seeds of this brown Digitalis (Fingerborgsblomma) after reading in a magazine that it was a great company to my favourite rose, Ghislaine de Feligonde. This was three years ago and now they grow everywhere in the garden. I love it when plants choose their own places to grow. And I also love that I spent 20 swedish crowns ($2)and very little effort on this beautiful flower. There is so much joy in sowing perennials.

Från garden

Happiness! I don't know where this lily came from but I am so happy to see it grow in my garden. I just found it by coincidence hidden as it was in the rambler/appletree djungle. My garden is 80 years old so maybe it has grown here earlier and just came to life again. I have been spreading seeds for some years but I have heard that it takes meny years for this Lilium martagon (Krollilja)to establish. I want a sea of these lilies under my apple trees. Please.

Hydrangea/Hortensia 'Annabelle'. I bought it earlier this summer and have planted it in a large willow basket. A red annual grass, a small Acer Japonica, and Bamboo 'Bimbo' in terracotta pots next to 'Annabelle'.

I didn't set a foot in my garden today. Stayed in bed all day. New obsession, crocheting. An old favourite, PD James. A crossword puzzle. A great day.

It's been raining for more than a week. Few of my roses are beautiful in heavy rain. Ilse Krohn Superior is an exception. Rain doesn't affect her at all. Otherwise a rather boring rose. No scent at all. The foliage dark green and glossy. A climber. White flowers with the slightest touch of yellow. Seems healthy but it's only her second year in my garden.
Some sun and much wind today. The laundry drying outside. Like it should be. In July.

We are building a garden shed. The color choices are overwhelming.

Some days the garden is a burden. Like today. The roses prime is already over. Too many of them look unhealthy and the secateurs is lost. I need to focus on very small areas to see the beauty in my garden. Like the leaves of the Virginia creeper or the petals of the brown Foxglove.

the best rose

This is the best rose in the world. Ghislaine de Feligonde. It's healthy, fast growing, beautiful and remontant. The buds are small and apricot/yellow and the flowers are white. The only thing to wish for is a more prominent scent.

It rainded today. For the first time in many weeks. We sat on the porch watching the lightning. Great!
